AWSOM is so lucky to have a wonderful youth base that care about our animals and take action! Below are some stories that illustrate some of the truly wonderful ways our AWSOM youth contribute to the support of our animals. We are so grateful for their initiative and acknowledge their AWSOMness!

Ms. Matheis AP English class from East Stroudsburg South High School raised $1500 for our AWSOM Animals!

These AWSOM students collected money outside Shoprite and they organized a great fundraiser at CiCi's pizza where they donated 10% of their entire days receipts to AWSOM.

Not only did these students raise much needed money for our animals, they also handed out volunteer applications for our shelter and have worked diligently to strengthen anti-cruelty laws and animal tethering of dogs in House Bill # 41.

Now that's AWSOM!

Lehman Intermediate 6 grader, Casey Rothman, spent her summer making garlic themed magnets, earrings and lollipops to sell at the Pocono Garlic Festival raising funds and awareness for A.W.S.O.M. a non kill animal shelter in Stroudsburg, PA. Through her efforts she raised $210 for the non profit and plans to continue to raise more.

A big barking THANK YOU to the Girl Scouts from Troop 973 who ran a bake sale at our Vendor Fest and Dog Park Frolic event on June 24th. They made delicious treats for people as well as doggies! The AWSOM dogs enjoyed sampling the merchandise. It was a beautiful day at the park for all!

These girls are truly AWSOM:

Helana Hunter is 10 years old. She wanted to do something to help the animals so she drew and colored pictures. She offered them to people to purchase and the money would go directly to AWSOM. She did this for two weeks in July and raised $150 plus dog and cat food and blankets.

Thank you Helana for being AWSOM!

Girl Scout Troop 375 helped AWSOM with an adoption event on Saturday August 4, 2012.

They did a great job in handing out fliers, holding signs down by 611 and energetic help all day with greeting people.

THANK YOU GIRL SCOUTS TROOP 375!

Brayden Fehr

Brayden Fehr dropping off the donations he collected for our AWSOM animals for his birthday! That's right, for his birthday, Brayden decided to collect items for our animals. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRAYDEN! YOU ARE TRULY AWSOM!!

Hannah Boback

How did Hannah Boback spend her summer? Volunteering and collecting donated items for our AWSOM Animals!

She started out putting fliers in her neighbors mailboxes about donating various items to AWSOM.  She then put a large container on her front porch for easy drop off and also went door to door to collect items like food, towels and money!

Pictured to the left is Hannah, Karen Defino and Lauren Bruckstein. Karen and Lauren jumped right in and collected donations for the shelter with Hannah. These are 3 truly amazing girls and we thank them from the bottom of our hearts!
