Remember Mama Paige and her 6 beautiful puppies? They have all been adopted into very loving homes…except for Princess Buttercup.
It became clear, very quickly, that baby girl was the “runt” of the litter, not only because of her size, but because of her inability to grow and gain weight like her sisters. Although her weight is a huge factor, if it were her only problem, it wouldn’t be a problem at all. The bigger, more pressing issue, is her inability to walk normally. You see, sadly, our poor Princess has to painfully drag her leg behind her, as her patella comes in and out of its socket.
Because the Princess only weighs 2 pounds, surgery is very risky…but very necessary. In order to give her a chance at walking normally in the future, the specialists at Valley Central need to insert wire into her patella, which will hopefully stabilize it as it grows. Doing this surgery now is necessary to give her a better chance at walking when she will receive another corrective surgery a year from now.
We love this girl so much and didn’t make the decision to move forward with surgery lightly. After much thought, prayer, and discussions with the Vets and specialists, we know in our hearts that the reward outweighs the risk. Princess Buttercup deserves the chance to walk normally for the rest of her life. She deserves to play in the grass and run as fast and joyfully as her legs will take her. She deserves the chance to live a long, pain free life, with a family who loves to be woken up by a pup who can jump on the bed and kiss their faces. Every single day.
Friends, we once again need your help to make this dream come true. The surgery is going to be expensive, and her after care is sure to be lengthy and costly. Please donate to our Yelp for Help fund so we can give Princess Buttercup the surgery she so desperately needs. Please.
