LETTER OF
INTRODUCTION FOR OUR POLICY TO WORK WITH LOCAL RESCUES IN OUR COMMUNITY
The Board of Directors would like
to thank the community for all of its support while we continue to work on and
develop policies to care for our animals following a life affirming philosophy.
We have placed over 150 animals
since opening barely 10 weeks ago! We are humbled by the divine intervention
that allowed this degree of success. We
feel blessed and we all know in our hearts that we are making a difference. The
lack of sleep and free time over the past several months was worth it!
Of course we are still
experiencing growing pains but we are grateful for all of your understanding
and support. We have been so busy
actually helping the animals that at times it has been hard to get all the
other ducks in a row. The animals are
and always will be our first priority.
The board has put together this
policy to enable us not only to work with local rescues, but with regional,
state and national rescues as well. We
contacted several successful No-Kill shelters throughout the country to get
ideas from them on how to avoid pitfalls and problems. Recently, we had a local rescue with
experience in this area present to our board.
To ensure AWSOM’s viability we
have contacted and are working with several well established shelters. With
their help and guidance we will be able to provide top notch animal care and
placement for Monroe
County.
We would like to promise the
public that we will carefully screen all of the rescues working with us and
ensure they maintain a high standard of care.
We look forward to working with all the great rescues in our community
and beyond. We have many passionate and
wonderful rescue people and are excited that they are so willing to help
lighten the load within our shelter by rescuing animals that have been there
for an extended period of time.
We extend a warm welcome to all
of our local rescues and urge to you develop an affiliation with us as we
strive to improve with each passing day.
Sincerely,
The Board of Directors of AWSOM
